Seaside Chorale
The Seaside Chorale is a year-long choir elective for students in the 7th and 8th grades. Students must audition to participate in this choir. In this course, students will continue to sing as a choir and give performances that are the outcome of their music studies.
Students will continue to be guided through activities designed to improve their musicianship skills through learning to read the pitches, rhythms, and score markings in their music.
There will be an emphasis on five areas of vocal technique: posture, breath control, diction, expression, resonant tone, and vocal health. Students will be introduced to singing in a variety of languages, and periods, and will work on showing the appropriate facial expressions to express the texts they are singing.
Additionally, all students will learn to sing several solo songs, and will have the opportunity to give a solo performance during the MBMS Solo Vocal Festival.
The goal of the choir class is to build healthy vocal technique, musicianship, and performance skills. Music that is age and level appropriate is selected for each choir.
Please see the Vocal Music Calendar for Seaside Chorale performance dates.
